mauser stock question
« on: April 07, 2005, 07:04:35 AM »
well i'm just about finished building my hunting gun its a 1916 spanish mauser chambered in 308.  well i i would like to get a syntech stock for it but i just looked at midway and i don't see many offerings in a 93 mauser. so i was wondering if a 96 mauser stock would fit ??? they are both small ring and mid/short action ??? would it work ???

thanks,mitch

They work just fine ( I have one) Know that the 93 fits better cause the barrel steps are in the correct place. On the 1916 they must have set the bbl back some to rechamber?? Anyway the steps in the bbl don't line up w/ the steps in the channel.  BTW in a synthetic stock and "developed" jkt bullet loads mine kicks like a barnyard mule, W/ cast bullets and "normal" pressures it shoots great and is much kinder to me.    Marty (Wuss?)
