Hey bullet maker
« on: February 10, 2003, 06:24:00 AM »
I've killed hogs north and west of Chelsea, but I've never run across one as big as that thing you've got hangin in that tree.

What did ya do with that skull? I made a European mount of a good boar that my brother killed up that way a couple of years back, looks real mean with those tusks showing really well.

There's alot of rumor around about genuine Boar bloodlines in those hogs around there, but I believe you'll find they are all ferals.
Hey, hold my beer and watch this.

:D Hi John;
  Well John to kill the really big ones, you got to be in a tree,  or sitting very still on a creek bank, sitting really still. LIke I was saying in other reports I was just lucky. But thinking back on it, I was in some very and I mean very brusy area. Luck for me they was in a run and never saw me.
   Your comment about the blood lines up here. Yes there are feral hogs, russian boar, feral that cross breed with russian boar, and now a lot of them dang pot belly pigs. Where the pot belly`s came from I only know of one source, and that was my neighbor , He let a fellar raise some on his property, cause the fellar didn`t have any property. after about 2 years the fellar had a pretty good herd built up and then got laid off and could`nt afford to feed them no more. Will they got out and the rest is history. How in the world they survie out there is beyound me, cause we got`s alot of big bobcats, wild dogs, etc. and yes there is some genuine blood lines here.
    Just remeber when your hunting them. There not stupid. I was reading an article in Field and Stream, I believe it was that the hogs and smell a person as good as a deer can, and they can make out a human at 100 yards.
Thanks for writing :D

I do hunt the brush, used to hunt on Hartley's place, but haven't been up to Vinita for a couple of years to visit with him about huntin on his land. Had a good spot on Spencer, but the mine and trappin pretty well screwed that deal up.

What did ya do with that head?

Hi John,
  Forgot to answer that inquiry from your last message. After retrieving it from the hunting dogs, I got it over at my son in law`s, place and he`s going to boil it out and polish it for me. It look`s like something from a horror movie.LOL

Oh, hey, there's another thing I was gonna ask about. You are an old railroad man? Ever work with some Nowata boys by the name of Covey?

Hi John;
No, I never knew any covey`s out of Nowata, but I did go to school with
some Covey`s in Jenks where I graduated from school. They lived down the street from us at 81st and Elwood. It`s probably some of the relatives.
   I retired from Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad, which when I had hired out was Frisco Railroad. Our runs were to Fort Scott Kansas, and when I had to go east, we ran to Springfield Missouri.

I do respect private property.

Now be honest with me, cause I promise I won't be huntin on your place....well maybe iffn ya ask me to.

Your initals are HB, am I right? You live south of some Bibles, the old man passed on a year or so back....he used to make some pretty good whiskey. What's that old school house called....Waller?

Yep, I used to kill a hog now and then right west of ya, till they got pressured north and east. I'm hoping they will work back in there in a year or so.

Let me buy your lunch sometime down at the Chelsea Diner.

Yes sir, I do know Mr. Henry, nice fella. In fact he and I have had a couple of conversations about a mile west of your place.

I have a good buddy in Jenks that says he might know some of your family, coach Ditolla.

I'm John Wilson, I'm down south of Sequoyah by the lake, been in Rogers County since 61, worked with ole Leon Bible back in the early 70's.

I've hunted around your area since I was a kid.

I'll give you a call, and treat ya to lunch, got a school bus gig in the mornings, and gotta go piss in a cup tomorrow, hehehe, they don't want us bus drivers to be takin any illegal substances ya know.

You are quite welcome there, bullet maker. I got a kick out of the visit and the tour of your place. I've always seen it from another direction haha.

I'll be back in there in a year or two, I just hope things can build back up like it used to be in the mean time, and my old wheels will still be up to the long hike in there and back out.

We'll try to do some shootin before hot weather gets here.
