Rats,old brass & sizing

I got a 3 pound coffee can of 7tc/u brass from a friend.I noticed it was old but decided to resize them any way. I threw several pieces away when I lubed them for various reasons. Half way thru resizing, a case broke off about 1/4 inch in the die. Now I have to buy a tap that will fit in a 223 or 7tc/u case body. The die is a Pacific Dura Chrome die and I'd hate to ruin it trying to chisel the case body out.
  All was not lost though! I have an RCBS set that I finished with.

you can take a small rubber ball put a hole trough it and then get a long bolt and washers and nuts to fit.
put one nut and washer on the bolt slide on the ball then put on the second washer and nut screw this in a bout 1/4 inch then  back the first nut un some and put lock tight or superglue and tighten it back to the ball. this is to keep it from movint then back off the second nut and push the ball all the way in the broken shell and tighten everything, this may be a little tricky but you should be able to get it nice and tight. thenpull on the bolt to remove the broken shell. this is a poor mand broken shell remover.

I have only needed to extract 1 ctg. Did it w/ a tap of a size that would grab the case but not touch the sides of the die. Threaded it into the bottom of the broken shell abt 3 or 4 full threads, then put a brass rod through from the top and hit it one good whack!! Worked just fine for me.   Marty

Yep! now all I need is a tap about 3/8".I've had the rims come off a couple cases and have a case puller for this. A quarter 20 tap wont work here!
