Ruger Customer Service
« on: February 13, 2003, 08:03:43 AM »
I just thought I would let you folks in on something.  You may already know about it but I am going to say it again.

Today I was taking apart one of my blackhawks for a good cleaning.  Not one of my new bisleys ,  Anyway I am taking the hammerspring out.  I have a small pinpunch holding the tension on the spring, and guess what bang it all goes flying all over the place.  I  found all of it but the small piece that goes at the bottom of the strut.  Who knows where it went.  I know I will be wearing my safety glasses next time I do it thats for sure.

So I call Ruger to buy another one since I couldnt find a whole gun in my garage if I lost it.  Guess what  no charge.  I told the guy he its my fault your part didnt break.  Still no charge.  That answers it for me folks.  I know that somepeople have issues with Ruger.  I will never buy anything else from now on.  I have always been happy with all the Rugers I have bought and I see no reason to go anywhere else.

Now if I can talk them into making a cheap sxs shotgun and maybe a good 92 winchester copy in 41 magnum .....hey one can wish cant they.

Think the word is out that customer service is a good thing (Sorry Martha  )
Lyman was famous for poor CS (or infamous) but last time I called they were super on the phone and when I sent my sizer/luber 450 in to get the bottom o-ring fixed I got a new 4500 model in its place and no charge.  Actually, did it twice as both the 450's were leaking from the bottom and now have two 4500's.
Now if they just made 6-cav molds.

Some people have all the luck, I guess.  I've had dealings with Ruger customer service two times.  The first was a DISASTER and the second isn't looking a lot better.  The first time, I bought a used (unfired 98/99%) 3 screw in the original box with the original anti-corrosion paper, etc.  The dealer wouldn't let me take possession until I agreed to send it to Ruger for the trigger modification.  Read the book, etc. "Will NOT damage the collector value".  When I got it back, someone had run a Dremel over the loading gate so it had about a half-inch gash in the bluing, and they had FIRED three chambers.  They turned a $1,400.00 (then dollars) collector piece into a $300 dollar pig gun.  At the moment, they have a stainless 77/44 with some minor problems.  They've had it since August!
