CANNON PURCHASE--NEED HELP
« on: April 07, 2005, 01:01:29 PM »
Hello:
I am looking at a Spanish made cannon and need some input as to value and quality.
This is what I know about the cannon
18" barrel-marked Made in Spain
bore 11/16"
field style with 11 1/2" wheels
barrel appear machine turned 2" at breech and 1 1/2 inches at muzzle.

Nicely made and finished.  Does not appear to have been a kit.
Approximately 45 lbs

I cannot find anything like this currently available to compare.

Thanks for your help

Just found another post and checked out Dixie
The seem to have the same type of cannon, but with a 14 1/2 inch barrel.
I will follow the rest of the leads in that post

Herbie -

WELCOME to the board!  Good description to start with.

Your find of a source of similar cannons is as good a reference point as any.

Do you have any pictures you could post?

Herbie,

That cannon at Dixie Gun Works is a Traditions product. I have their naval cannon, also .69 caliber (actual bore size 0.70"). The barrel is beautifully machined and the wood ain't bad considering the price, You'll find Tradition cannons offered by large gun and gun parts suppliers as well as folks listed on the resource sticky such as Cannon-Mania.

Good luck in your search!
