Mound master#1
« on: April 05, 2005, 05:03:42 PM »
Hey Tom  I have a friend that some beaver  in his fish pond  he also had some of that fancy bamboo close by.The beaver cut down several cane of it.Most of the bamboo was cut off about 5 to6 inches off the ground. I  set a 330  where they were coming out of the water. Imade 2 mound sets 1 with mm#1 and another mm#2 .Ialso set 3 den.
The next day I had a 30lb male in the mm#1 moundset and a 40lb female in 1 of the dens.
These 2 beaver I caught werent the ones that cut the bamboo  wouild you think they would have cut it 8 or 10 inches off the ground.
The traps have been set 4 days with the catchs the frist night no sign of anything else.
My friend did tellmesome backhisdogs had a small dead beaver they were messing with so I assume thats who cut the bamboo.
Back to the subject on your mm#1,it worked!
I will be trying it agian soon!

Howell, glad the Moundmaster worked for you. They are the only beaver lures I use,I alternate between #1 and #2 all down my line.
Over the years I have had these lures out, they are almost dead even in numbers of beavers taken. I like to give them a choice in what they want.
My only mistake was naming them #1 and #2,as many customers believe something named #1 must be better than something named #2.
 Live and learn.
 Tom
