How do you take the side plate off I have all the screws out and it wont come off

I assume you've removed the grips.. hold the revovler in your left hand with the sideplate facing the palm of your hand with the palm facing up. Tap the bottom of the grip frame on the back edge with a soft non-marring hammer, rawhide or plastic work well. Rubber will work too if a firm rubber. The tapping will dislodge the sideplate. DON'T hit hard, just light tapping, enough to jar the frame a bit. Are you certain you've removed all the sideplate screws? See the diagram at the link below.

thanks gunnut would a block of wood work and how many screws ar there one under grips and one by trigger and one by cyilinder all on the same side ?

Yes, all the screws holding in the sideplate are on the right side of the frame. Note that the screw retaining the crane and cylinder is fitted. Be sure to replace it in the same hole.

Important to remember that you do NOT pry on the side plate to get it out. Thumping it with a block of hardwood or a plastic-tipped hammer is best.
