Need help forming a line

Hey Guys,

I'm a college student with a tight budget, but I've got quite a few acres that are overrun with mink, coon, muskrat, some fox, coyote, and beaver.  I cant take it anymore, I need to start trapping!  Like I said, I'm kinda limited on the money, but hopefully I can make a little money doing this.  Any suggestions on good deals for traps?  I think i'm gonna target the mink, beaver, coons and dry land some coyotes and fox.  Any suggestions would be great!

to get started you will need to find a fur buyer and see how he wants the furs... im 15 and also have a low budget. so fleshing wouldnt be the thing to get into just yet becasue i looked into it and its around 150 bucks to get everything you need... no counting shipping. to get started i would get Duke 1 1/2 coil spring traps.. they will hold coon, fox, mink, muskrats, possums, skunks. . all those little critters and some steaks..
also i would reconment a book or video. i know they arent cheap but they sure are great. i wish i would have know all the stuff after reading some books at the begining of the year. i would recoment dirthole and its variations, land sets and trapping techniques both by charlie dobbins.
lures- you wont need to go over board with them. for coons, possums you can just use sardines. they work great. a sugestion for a kind of lure for coon would be red fox gland or some red fox urine. they would get a fox to investagate your set also, but coons will go for it also. also some fish oil would be good for mink, coons and those critters..
if you go fishing or huntung at all . save the scraps and let them get stinky - they work as well for coons and mink..
also if your going to trap muskrats i would get some 110 conibears. they are just great. they are also good for mink... you can get all this stuff from Bogmaster he has an advestisement on this site. St.Croix hunting and trapping supplies. hes a good guy and will get you what you need.
hope this helps some .. .
good luck

i am a new trapper myself and though i work full-time,i have a family so i cant spend a lot on "hunting-stuff"as my wife calls it.i started out by going with a friend of my to learn the basics and i watched to see what he used.as you can see,you can my a million dollars worth of trapping stuff but actually only need a little to get started.i splured and bought 2 dozen victors(dukes are considerably cheaper)but i think the vics may be a little tougher but dukes will work.i bought some logwood dye and a trappers cap(these are pretty cheap),some swivels,i bummed some rebar for stakes from my pa-inlaw(actually i worked off the debt)and i bought some fox urine and i jar of lure.i use jack mackeral for coons and rotten deer meat for foxes and coyotes.so i dont think you need to spend a lot to get started, just spend wisely.i made a sifter out of some old screen,i use xtra heavy duty clothes hangers(garment hangers)for wire on my coon traps.i bum these off a friend that owns a dry cleaner.as i earn some money i can "up-grade"my supplies, but i have done pretty good so far on a little new stuff and some borrowed and recycled stuff.the more i read these posts on trapping i learn that creativity mixed with tried and true knowledge goes a long way.i have already made my money back that i spent this year and i set my first traps on jan. 20th.

FIRST OF ALL, IF YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY, GO TO THE LOCAL HOME DEPOT AND GET A JOB BECAUSE IT WILL PAY A HELLUVALOT BETTER.  YOU WILL NOT MAKE MONEY TRAPPING.  YOU NEED TO TRAP BECAUSE IT IS A SPIRITUAL THING WITHIN YOURSELF.  DONT DO IT FOR THE MONEY KID.

IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT TRAPPING, GET YOURSELF SOME TRAPS BY TELLING YOUR RELATIVES THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY AND GO GET'EM.  GOOD LUCK.
