I've got the option of picking up a NIB SS Redhawk with rings in 45LC for $425, Anybody have any experience with them? or particular loads that you like?

You could be a lucky dog too, I checked www.galleryofguns.com, Davidson's has sale on them through 4/30/05 my local dealer listed the SS Redhawk in 45 Colt scope model for $ 417, w/o rings for $384. I tacked on alittle extra when I asked the question for possible variations like shipping and such. I think it's a hell of a deal. But I'm gonna have to do some creative financing to hide this one from the wife ( had a SBBH 44 on order when I found this sale and just got that today) But I think this would be worth it. :wink:

Pity it doesn't come in blued. SS is fine but I prefer blued steel. I console myself with the Bisley model which after a few minor modifications (free spin pawl, spring kit & reaming throats to .451) has proven to be a fine revolver. If prosperity ever returns, I'll get a .44 blued Redhawk and have Bowen do a conversion to .45 Colt.

I underestimated slightly, one dealer quoted me $485, another quoted me $449. I guess I underestimated the shipping a bit. But still looking like a good deal to me. So I gave the nod to the dealer for $449 and it should be on it's way. Now it's time to do the sneaky financing and skip lunch for about a six months, I need to loose some weight anyway, just don't want to loose it from a butt chewing from the chief :-D

Love that line! Kinda sounds like me every couple months. :wink:

I'm guessing that the 45 Redhawks are all being clearanced out becasue they're discontinued. A lot of times Davidson's or another larger distributor will buy out all existing tock of a discontinued moel and just blast them out at a really good price to thier dealers. Sounds like what's happened here.

I kinda wonder that too, I had still seen the Redhawk in 45 listed on the ruger website but had heard elsewhere that they had discontinued them last year.

I've often wondered if the redhawk line will be discontinued completely with the Super Redhawk doing well and being the same working as the GP 100 and the Redhawk being the only type of it's design? I'm not sure if they sell that many redhawks anymore, I could imagine Ruger switching over to shorter barrels on the super redhawk design to take the place of the 51/2" redhawk and I think the Alaskan is the first step.

Maybe that would be a logical argument to convice the wife I should get one now while I can... "but it's an investment honey..." :lol:
