So, who likes WC-846?
« on: May 22, 2005, 11:40:17 AM »
Pat's Reloading has 8lb jugs of WC-846 for around $79, so I thought about giving it a try.  According to the site, it has a burn rate between H335 and BLC(2), so I'm hoping it will work fine in my .223, 7mm TCU, and .45-70 Handi Rifle.

Anyone have much experience with this powder?  Specifically, is it an accurate and fairly clean burning powder?

Thanks!

I have not done a lot of work with WC 846, but my lot is at least as fast as H335. Seems to be a fine powder, but work up from way low and use a chronograph to see what you are getting.

I bought several jugs from Pat, sometime ago and use it in .223. It works well and my lot is slower than BLC-2. You just have to work with what you get. My thinking is that for $64 (back when I bought it) you can't go wrong, as it will work in many calibers.......Chainsaw

I just bought some WC 844 powder.  Anyone had any experience with this stuff.  Supposed to be about like W748.  Haven't had a chance to try it yet in my 223.

some lots of it that i have used are excellent with up to 60 gr' bullets in the .223 and the .22-250.   i will use it also in the .308 and .30-06 eventually.   my buddy just shot unbelievable groups with it using a 45 gr' Sierra out of his Rem' M-700 in .223.

we lighten the triggers on the Model 700's and they are then ready to go with the wc-846.
