220 Swift

:-D I have just traded for a 220 Swift and I know nothing about the caliber. I was looking for a 223 or 22-250 but couldn't pass the deal I found. Ruger M77 Mark II, Wood with Blue Barrel, and it looks like it hasn't seen much use. I've got about 270 invested in it. I am probably going to use it mostly for prarie dogs, coyotes, and target practice, especially after we move to wyoming later this year. Also I am looking to reload it when I get set up to do so. I'm down between an RCBS Rockcrusher, and a Lyman Crusher 2. Any suggestions from you guys would be great! Great forum guys, good place to find info! Happy Hunting!

both of the presses are good choices I use rcbs rockchuchers myself and if you go to the reloading section you will see vary positive mentions of the rcbs equipment and service.  Good luck with your new rifle enjoy it you made a good deal, you will always be able to get your money back if you decide to change. :D   JIM

I prefer and use the RCBS press and don't think you will regret the RCBS choice....as to the swift..it is a good/great old cartridge.....mine like the 50-55 grain bullets and the Hornady 55V-Max does well.....IMR 4064 is the old "standard" for the cartridge and works well for me.....just a note....the Norma brass is fantastic but thin in the neck....I got some new Winchester brass and it was so thick in the neck walls that loaded rounds wouldn't fit in my stock Winchesters standard-low side of SAAMI chamber and required neck turning to fit!!!! trim the cases and watch them for strech as some swifts chambers are different than the dies to resize and work the brass and let it strech and thus require length trimming more than some cartridges.....but with a good die/chamber fit and/or neck sizing the brass last similar to the other hotter centerfires and doesn't strech more than normal...... my current swift is a old P64 Mod 70 light barrel and for 3 shot groups with the light barrel it does nice...good luck and good shooting!!!

:D I have used a 220 swift for the past thirty years. I hope you enjoy yours half as much as I have mine. My Swifts like H-380 the best. OOBuckshot
