Actually, if you can find a Model 10/22-TAL limited-edition race gun, I heartily recommend it. It comes with a custom 3-lb trigger pull that's exceptionally short with no creep whatsoever. The first time I shot mine, it seemed as if I had only thought about squeezing the trigger when I heard it go off. The TAL also comes with a gorgeous thumb-through walnut stock, and an equally-beautiful free-floating hammer-forged barrel. It's factory-accurized and warrantied, so you don't have to void the warranty in order to get a terriffic gun out of it.
I say "If you can find one" because they only made 1500 or so. My rifle, which I just purchased, is #1435. They retail for $460 or so, but the price is worth it. You shoot it, and there's no recoil or muzzle climb at all. Downsides? A bit heavy for hunting, and you probly won't want to mess up that gorgeous stock. And, of course, that crappy stock magazine release sucks. I replaced mine ASAP.
