That PolyChoke adhesive is probably a two-component epoxy of some sort.  As such, the barrel surface needs to be CHEMICALLY clean for a permanent attachment.

I would use either acetone, MEK, or repeated applications with rubbing alcohol.  Acetone would be first choice.  Don't use anything that leaves a residual oil (paint thinner, gasoline, etc).

Acetone is best, but in a pinch, lacquer thinner (not paint thinner) can be used.

They may have changed their adhesive but if they have not they specify on the packaging that if you use anything besides toluol(sp) the adhesive will not bond correctly..  I don't keep the adhesive they use in stock as it has a definite shelf life but I'd call the manufacturer and ask.  Toluol is available at most paint stores and well stocked hardware stores.  I bought mine at a local farm supply store.

Treat all powerful solvents with care, but that one used to be on a list of known cancer causing agents and was restricted for use in several factories that I worked in.  Ventilate well and wear breathing protection and chemical proof gloves to be sure.
