I can appreciate what you guys are saying and really appreciate it, and I know defects happen, but when you say many of your new NEF`s come with loose screws, that makes me a little nervous, as I have not heard that about too many manufactures, my Remingtons-Marlins and Mossbergs have all been perfect, never a problem with screws. You would thinkl that H&R would know how much pressure to apply to the buttstock screws, once it makes contact of buttplate and and stock wood. I don`t accept that as regular or acceptable practice. I am not trying to be an A-Hole, I just expect almost perfection on my guns. another thing I have noticed on NEF`s-H&R`s is tooling marks, I wonder why this is? Are their toolings in rough shape? I guess I am just a little suprised at all of these defect talk on NEF products is all. I will try the next one to see if it is better than this one. As long as it is totally functional and the screws are alright, the grain of the wood isn`t such a big deal, I like Black Walnut figured and plain  Thank you-Jack.
