.410 deer slugs for hunting Coyotes?
« on: April 11, 2005, 04:39:59 AM »
Hi:

Does anyone know if .410 deer slugs would be ok to use for hunting Coyotes?  What would be the range that shots should be taken when using .410 slugs on Coyotes?  Would there be much pelt damage when using .410 slugs?

Thanks.

i wouldnt suggest it,im sure they would work but why "half ass" something and take the risk of just wounding the animal and having it run off and suffer when you can use a 12 gauge with buck shot and have more power and more of a chance of hitting it and putting it down quickly and cleanly.

my $.02

I agree so that makes it  :money:  :money: right.  All joking aside the .410 slugs I wouldn't trust to take a Jack Rabbit cleanly.  Tried them one time on a small Blacktail Doe at 40 +/- yards and ended up chasing her for over half a mile.  Now maybe if someone loaded a sabot with a .224 bullet it might be different.  Lawdog
