Last year I bought a Simmons 1.5 x 6 Whitetail Expedition for a .30-06 Handi-rifle I got in a trade.  Didn't like the large eyepiece at all, but the scope did well for a while.  Scope stopped adjusting, so I shipped it to Simmons, and swapped around, leaving a space on a black powder in-line for the repaired scope.  Two weeks later, Simmons sent me a new Weaver Classic 2.5 X 7 X 32.   I probably won't buy another Simmons, but they sure took care of me.

Meade owns Simmons, Weaver and Redfield, that's the connection.

Simmons scopes are a moving target, and difficult to report on. When Weaver/Blount bought Simmons in 1995, they raised the wholesale price of the Weaver line of scopes 15%. A call to Blount confirmed that they decided to position the Weaver line as upscale to the Simmons line. At that time a Simmons product line shakeout and considerable shuffling of OEM's occured. (Since then, Redfield, Simmons & Weaver were all sold by Blount to ATK, and from ATK to Meade.)
