Top Water Bite......
« on: April 02, 2005, 11:25:51 AM »
There is hope for the world still.  Went out this morning at first light and started throwing an 1/8 oz. buzzbait.  After about twenty minutes I was about to give up on the buzzbait when a pretty 2 lb. largemouth inhaled it.  This encouraged me and I kept casting that buzzbait for another hour and managed to catch six more.  All between 1 to 2 pounds.  Just the same it looks like things are beginning to pick up and best of all they were all a top water bite.   :-D   Lawdog

A friend was down the river last week and got a 16" smallmouth, but only one. Water is still a little cold.

Topwater??  My local hot spots still seem to be asleep yet!!!!!  The ice just came off lastweek well about 10 days ago but the water is still cold.  Even my poor crankbaits were shivering when i took them out of the water.

I'm just ready to go fishing, now if i just had some fish to catch?  If it doesn't pickup in a day or so i may try river fishing for bass.  I've been holding off river fishing because of the heavy rain and the flooding here lately.  Now its cold again and i have a feeling its going to be 90 degree weather overnite and we will be smack dab into the spawn I hope!!!  I love the action right after the spawn when those big gals are hungry.
