Well...I prefer the crystal type...like Primos Power Crystal...I lost it and a few other lil odds and ends with a turkey pack in the spring, so now I'm using a Power Crystal 25th Anniversary with a PurpleHeart striker. The Power Crystal (first one mentioned) comes with a waterproof acrylic striker. It didn't work as good as the wood striker, but it made the sounds of a mature hen. I liked it.

I will get a new slate call down the road. Don't know what, but it will be in crystal slate. That's my preference.  :D

K&H Old yeller with two wood strikers and a power tip one for when it's soggy out. The power tipped one has a bit different sound than the wood, a little bit sharper sound.

As the (slate type) calls go i am most parcel to the glass, crystal top calls.
I usally carry two a primo's power crystal and a H.S.strut T-glass.
Both are good calls, but of the two the primo's is by far my favorite.

None of the strikers that came with these calls were to my liking but i have a Hickory (thin) striker that sounds great with the primo's.
Any small diamater hard wood striker should be good....even hardwood dowels from the hardware store will work....just have to play around some with lenght and size.
