Sovereign 22 Rifle? Good or Bad?
« on: April 18, 2005, 02:21:27 PM »
Bought a Sovereign Model 64 takedown rifle, to help a young soldier out.  He didn't know much about it other than it shot well and was a takedown.  Question is are they any good and where can I find a magazine for it.  Tried Gunparts but no luck.  Any help or info on the rifle would be appreciated.

Never heard of it and did not see it in any of 3 different gun price guides including Blue Book of Gun Values, R. L. Wilson Guide to Gun Values, and Gun Traders Guide. Is this a new make of gun? and is there any other markings besides Soveriegn? Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

There's one on GunsAmerica.com (do a general Search there under "Sovereign"). Says it's Italian made; there's a picture ... pretty homely looking.  That one doesn't have a mag either.

I've had 3 of these over the years.  They are an Italian copy of the an Anschutz semi-auto.  I can't remember who the importer was, I think Century Arms, but not sure.  All 3 rifles I had were very good shooters.  I had no problems with jamming with any ammo.  Each one would shoot about an inch group at 50 yards.  It is no target rifle, but it is a good rifle to learn the basics on.  I used to have a couple extra magazines, but I believe I sold them with the guns when I traded them off.  Have you tried any of the other gun parts companies, such as Hoosier gun works or Old Western Scrounger?

thank you, I knew I came to the right place.  It is kind of an ugly rifle but I thought if it shot I'd put dot site on it and break down for carrying on my mountain bike.

thanks again and thanks for the help

Sherppa,

Gun Parts Corp. often has parts in low quanitites that do not show up on their website.  If you hop onto their website, click on "Forum" and then scroll down to the options on the left side of the page, there are icons where you can click and then post questions to "DB"--one of the technical people at GPC.  Don't post on the right side, that area is the general forum, and the people that post there (including me) don't work for the company.  You can ask them if they have the magazine you are looking for--just be specific with the make and model of the firearm.  I believe all the magazines I had were 10 round.
