Help with Model 70
« on: April 13, 2005, 03:21:32 AM »
I have a chance to add another Mod 70 to the safe and need input on it.  I have a Mod 70 Classic Spoter already.  The one I am looking at is nothing like it.  The "new one" has a factory syn stock with no floorplate.  It is a .270.  The bolt is not like the Classic that I own.  The 'new' one has no claw type extractor like my 30.06 has.  the serial number starts with a G and is G23070XX.  What is this Model 70?

Thanks
Jeff

sounds like a push feed Model 70 shadow. Walmart has them for around 350 new.

I agree with PA-Joe, its the pushfeed Shadow. Probably a couple of years old or more if it does not have the insets in the pistol grip or forearm. I think I first saw them like that last year. Buy it! The action alone is worth well over $200. I grabbed one recently on a Wallyworld clearance, with a cheap 3x9 scope mounted on it for $300. I really bought it for the action, even though I'm a dyed in the wool "claw" man when it comes to hunting guns. I can part out the rest, and rebarrel to something more interesting than the .300 Win mag it is chambered to.
