There are more experienced bear hunters out there than me so lets hear from them too.

I think that on the coast that a 7' bear is a real good bear.  Over that is a trophy and 6' to 6'6" is probably average.

On the interior a 7' would be a trophy and 6' would be real good bear and the average 5' to 5'6". You also can get color phase on the interior but they are seldom on the coast.
