How does it shoot in your rifle?

The reason I ask  is a new custom made Ruger #1 repodredly kicks like a steer. My gunsmith  is the only yet to fire it and he is no sissy on the recoil issue. Knocked hi hat off and bruised hios offf hand.  It was very punishing but also accurate!  Bad news, good news.

I have never heard that the caliber was a particularly heavy kicker

What has your experience been?

Thanks in advance.

I never shot any factory ammo in our 338-06, Our rifle is a Mauser with a 24" barrel and weights 9.5lbs ready to hunt and it does not kick bad at least half of what our 338WM kicks.

In my opinion recoil is not a problem, at least with my gun. I have shot max loads in 200 grain and 225 grain bullets. I would say however to shoot a box of ammunition in a t-shirt off a bench would be a mistake.

In my sons opinion it is not as sharp as 12 gauge 3 1/2 inch magnums.

Gun is a Savage 110 wood stock with thin rubber but pad.

I dont think its the round. I think its the rifle.  Rugers are accurate but really suck on recoil.

I'll let you know tommorrow...I'll be heading to the range to try my new rebored 338-06  Ultra Handi-Rifle...and will be using Weatherby's 210gr factory load and some handloads I'll be using for the break-in ...those are the Noslers 180 grainers BT's over the start load of BL-C(2)...

I shot both the handloaded Noslers 180's to day...and the factory 210 Partitons...neither one would be what I consider bad...especially out of my Handi single shot...they were heavier than a 30-06 shooting the same...but not bad at all...I really like the round...and the new gun ...
