Springfield "Loaded" -vs- "TRP"
« on: April 29, 2005, 08:01:21 AM »
I posted a thread "I made up my mind on which one to get!!!, and I probably will get the "Stainless PX9151L 45 ACP Loaded Pistol". Having said that, in the next few weeks I may be in a position "MONEY WISE" were I'll be able to get the "Tactical Response Pistol TRP Stainless Steel PC9107L". My question is, is the "TRP" worth the extra money. I can get the "loaded pistol" locally for $699 plus tax. I haven't seen any "TRP's" locally (haven't been looking for the "TRP", but I haven't seen any either) but on the internet I've seen them from $1125 to $1200. I'm going to split the "carry time" with this pistol and my Glock 22. I also have a G27 for the warmer weather, it conceals better the the full-size Glock 22. I also shoot my pistol (rifles and shotguns too) regularly, I don't just carry them, then put them away. This is my first 1911 pistol. I'm a little reluctant to get the "TRP" because I would also like to get the "Stainless Steel PX9130L 9mm Pistol" soon after I get the 45 ACP. I haven't had a 9mm in about five years and I really want another one. For the cost of the "TRP" I would only need to spend anther $250 or so and I could have both a "loaded" 45 ACP and a 9mm.

Are the "loaded" pistols just as reliable as the "TRP's"? Like I said I'm going to carry and shoot these pistols. I shoot them to "practice" and keep "sharp" incase I ever have to use them for self defense (and I enjoy shooting!), I want to be able to hit what/who I'm aiming at and not someone/something else, I don't believe in the spray and pray theory! I won't use them as "target guns". It doesn't have to be "the best" or "cost the most", I'm looking for good reliable pistols that wouldn't wear out to fast, something my family, wife and three kids (my two daughters (12 and 8) for now, my son is still way to young, hes only 3 1/2) can have fun with. The 9mm would be great for them!

Springfield "Loaded" -vs- "T

The SS TRP has a few extra add ons. Like a bull bll. Better trigger pull(lighter with less over travle). The TRP also has front and rear checker straps. It also has a beveled MAG well and with the MAG well the mags come with bump pads.

So if you add it up.

The rear checker strap is part of the MAG well, thats about a $70.00 option. The front checker strap is about a $110.00 option. The 2 MAGS with pads is about a $30.00 option. The trigger job is about $185.00 option. And the bull bll is about a $185.00 option.

Thats about $580.00 it would take to get a loaded SS Springfield to a TRP. All thoughs are Springfields prices. You can send a loaded 1911 back to them for trigger jobs and to have a front strap milled in.

So, IMHO you just have to ask your self what you want. It would be cheaper to get the TRP right off the bat. Or, you could get a loaded SS and upgrade it over time for more money. I have the SS TRP. It is a sweet gun. One of my best shooters. I also had a loaded  Springfield I had all the noted work done on to make it a TRP. I sold the loaded 1911 I had the work done on, because it never work out like the TRP, even with the work done to it, it just never felt right.

*Stuff I would have though*

The beveled MAG. well and bump pad MAGS. are on ALL of my 1911s, even the one that did not come with them. I have put them on there. You have no clue how much faster and easer it makes them to load.

Also.

I have had trigger jobs done on ALL of my 1911s.

              Hope this helps.
