.44 Mag Load with Alliant PowerPistol

Has anybody worked up a load with a 240-250 grain cast bullet and Alliant PowerPistol that averages 1,000 fps out of a 6" barrel? If someone has, how does it shoot. I am very impressed with PowerPistol, but I don't have a chrono and I didn't find any loads for that velocity in any of the manuals I have.

best 1000 fps load out of my smith is the rcbs 250swc and 11 grains of power pistol It shoots one hole groups out of that gun and does well in all of my .44s I even shot a pig with that load last year and it blew right threw it. Im not much on the new fangled powders but power pistol is one i wouldnt be without.

Power Pistol did well in my 20" 44mag with a 240grn cast bullet up to about 10.0grns. Above that the accuracy fell off a little.

I've got an issue of Handloader magizine, August 2003. the author is shooting a 4-1/4" Freedom Arms 44 Special. He is using a 250gr. Keith bullet. And he is getting 980 fps from the FA using 8.0gr of Power Pistol.
So I bet you would get 1000 fps out of a 6 inch barrel easy. I'm currently using Power Pistol in my FA in a 5-1/2 barrel in 44 Special. I'm also using it with jacketed bullets with real good results. I like it because it meters a lot better than Unique and is slower burning.
It's my favorite in my 44 Special.

Thanks, fellas. I think Alliant has a real winner with PowerPistol and I find that I am loading it in more and more calibers that I shoot. I also notice that it is cheaper than a lot of other brands as well.

I have used this powder for my handgun and the Ruger Carbine.

Needless to say, I'm not using IMR 4227 any longer, nor UNIQUE for my cast loads.

Does anyone know if this would work in .45 Colt with same bullet weight? thanx for your feedback. jd45

I believe in a recent article on the .45 Colt in Handloader magazine, Brian Pearce was using 8.5 grains of PowerPistol with a 250 or 255-grain bullet. Can anybody confirm this? I'm on the road and can't get to my copy.
