Hornady bullets and 7mm-08
« on: April 16, 2005, 04:11:35 AM »
I just picked up a 7mm-08 Encore barrel and am planning on reloading.  I want to work up a load for Michigan Whitetail.  Range will be anywhere from 20 yards to generally 100 yards but could go as far as 200.

I'm looking at the Hornady 139 grain bullets but need recommendations on either the SST, Interlock tip spire point, or the Boattail spire point.

To many bullets to choose from.  Any recommendations?

Thanks

Try the Sierra 130 gr. SSP bullets. They worked great in mine...while I had it.

Mine likes 140 BT's, Accubonds and 140 Sierras. Couldn't get the Hornadys to shoot as good as the others but were still good enough for hunting.

I always used 140 NBT's while my hunting buddy used the 120 NBT.  I would try the SST and see which shoots best in your barrel.

Myerslake2005.

I use the 139 SSTs out of a Contender chambered for the 7-30 Waters.  They have done a beautful job on several whitetail.  They are among the most accurate bullets out of my barrel.  If they prove to be accurate in yours, I can't see why they wouldn't be anything but an excellent choice the 7-08.

Blessings!

I've taken several deer with a 788 rifle with an 18" barrel .Some were hit with a 120 grain Hornady some were hit with a 139/140 grainer. One deer I shot using a 145 grain bullet.Distances were measured from seventy feet to around 200 yards! Bottom line is put  the most accurate bullet thru the lung/heart and start dragging your deer out!
