New Nosler Product Line.

OK guys and gals here is the info you've all been waiting for. Nosler is expanding like you ain't gonna believe.

1. Nosler Custom Ammunition:  http://www.noslerammunition.com/

Nosler is introducing a large line of Custom Crafted ammunition in a limited but long list of chamberings. See their new ammunition site for full details. This ammo is hand crafted. For many years Nosler has been making Custom Ammo for use in their product testing and to supply limited markets. Now it will become available to the general public. All of it is hand crafted not mass produced by automated machines.

I expect to be reviewing and testing this new ammo in .257 Whby. Magnum, .260 Remington and .35 Whelen in the near future.

2. New Accubond bullet introductions: Nosler is adding Accubond bullets in the following: .257" 115 grains. .308" 150 grains. 8MM 200 grains.

3. Nosler headstamped brass for reloaders will be available in the following: .223 Remington, .22-250, .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .30-06, 7MM Remington Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum.

4. Nosler Custom Rifles. You read that correctly. Nosler has entered the Custom Rifle business.

These rifles will feature high grade Turkish Walnut stocks, custom made scope mounts, Wiseman #2 contour SS match grade barrels. They come with an accuracy guarantee of 1/2" at 100 yards using Nosler Custom Ammo. They are shipped with two boxes of Nosler Custom ammo and an air line approved metal hard case. Look for a price of $3995 on these.

Also see these other fine Nosler web sites:

1. Shooter's Pro Shop: http://www.shootersproshop.com/

2. Nosler Custom: I believe this one will be the Nosler Custom Rifle site but at this time is not yet operational. http://www.noslercustom.com/

Steve, the price isn't out of line with other Custom Rifle builders making rifles of the type. Certainly not a standard production gun and not priced like one. But price a Dakota, a Sisk or any other truly Custom maker's products and you'll see the price isn't out of line for what they are giving. It sure ain't for the working stiff or old retired folks like me and you however.

skb2706, If you go to the link I gave for their ammo you'll see a drop down box to select the cartridge and it lists all the options they will offer. I think in the .260 Rem. they will have it in four different versions. One BT and three PTs as I recall. Just going on memory I think it is: 100 PT, 120 BT, 125 PT and 140 PT. But as I said the info is there.

new leadership??
« Reply #4 on: September 15, 2004, 07:27:57 AM »
Usually when such dramatic changes come it means a company has been bought or there was a major change in leadership.  Is that the case with Nosler?

I hate to be a pessimist but dramatic changes like this have often precipitated a decline in a well known company.  I sure hope Nosler doesn't over -extend itself or squander its reputation.  At the same time I'd be tempted to get some Nosler headstamped brass to  help  me keep my reloads  sorted out.

I was referring to the price of Nosler's "Custom Ammo", not their firearms.

that explains why they are out of stock on their 6.5 mm 125 NP bullets..........they used them all up in their overpriced loaded ammo.

Interesting, they offer ammo for calibers like the 257 Roberts, the 7mm STW, and the 338 Lapua Magnum, but leave out the more popular 308 and venerable 30-06.

From what GB said in the bolt action forum, Nosler is not interested, at this time, in loading the most common calibers.

Sorry bout that Steve. I misunderstood. I honestly didn't even look at the price of the ammo. Maybe I should.    But being loaded by hand with Nosler headstamped brass and Nosler Premium bullets I'm sure it ain't cheap.

While you are looking at the prices also notice the small print that states the brass will be supplied by Remington, Winchester and Federal  (with their headstamps?).

I gave a list of chamberings that Nosler will make with their headstamp, all others will be from one of those three.

I totally agree with Steve about the prices of this ammunition; un-freaking-real. For that price they ought to take the recoil of the rifle in their shoulder, to boot.

I for one think that most 'custom' rifles (Short of a Holland&Holland Royal double) offer very little over a standard production rifle other than 10 times the price. I realize that custom building a rifle by hand is a labor intensive process, but based on the cost of most custom rifles I think their per-hour labor rate is in the realm of of what some neuro-surgeons charge. To me, I would never pay that rate for what is essentially high-precision machinist work.
Go MAGNUM/MAX LOAD or GO HOME !
Always use MUCH more gun than the minimum required to do the job.

Nosler does not make the brass at all. They buy it from "a U.S. manufacturer" with the Nosler headstamp. It is all made by either Remington, Winchester or Federal. The brass is weigh sorted, sort-of match prepped and loaded on Dillon presses.

They specialize in odd calibers since not many other ammo manufacturers do.

For the price of the ammo they should use Lapua brass and hand weigh each charge, after customizing the load to each persons needs.

For most folks, you're better off loading your own. Some people don't have the time or the knowledge to hand craft a load and this is where the Nosler ammo will find it's place.
