The Vote on the Cat issue
« on: April 12, 2005, 02:32:44 AM »
NOTE: PLease first of all no stories here of killing cats so Greybeard does not have to eliminate this post as it would be breaking the rules of the website host. I figure I can post the results of the vote as long as killing is not discussed.

Well the Conservation Congress Meeting was last night and they held the cat question first I suppose so the animal allies folks would leave soon after the question.  The Question was again: " Do you favor the DNR take steps to define free roaming feral domestic cats by the previous mentioned definition and list free roaming domestic feral cats as an unprotected species" The vote was Yes 33 and No 20 in my county. I will post the state wide totals when they become available. Jim

So there was enough votes to carry this even over the populated tree hugger areas like Milwaukee and Madison.

Since this is a Predator issue another question they had was about landowners protecting live stock from wolves and the right to shoot them if they get off the endangered list here is the result of that vote.

LANDOWNERS PROTECT STOCK FROM WOLVES
 8,079 YES
 1,903 NO

JH45GUN. I've never checked the law here, but anything damaging or threatening me, mine, my animals, etc, is feral, and is shot. We had an awful problem about 15 years ago with feral dog packs. They killed a lot of livestock in the area, even attacked, and pulled a man off his tractor. I personally wasattacked by a pack  of 8. The local dog warden simply said, you catch em, tie em up, and I'll come get them IF I get time. We neighbors went to war with these dog packs, we won. I hated killing those dogs, but it had to be done. Cats?? Thats another story. POWDERMAN.  :D  :D  :D  :D

I am a dog owner and like dogs but I realize that dogs can cause problems. IT seems to me most cat owners over look their pets as potental problems. There was a bit on the news this morning on ABC I missed it but was told it that it is estimated that there are over 2 million feral cats in WI. Jim

You know, a society can be judged by the way we take care of our pets. Doesn't sound like we a a whole, are doing such a great job, does it?

Oh, I don't know.

If people won't take care of their own pets, I really don't mind taking care of their pets for them.

They're so cute when they're asleep.

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

Society can be judged by the number of peanuts in a bag too.  That doesn't mean it's a good measure.
