I have a Gamo Sadow 1000...

...And i love it. sure, trigger could be better, but aside from that, it's great. accurate enough to keep hitting a playing card at 100 yards, and powerful enough to go through two sparrows and stick 1/3 inch into a tree 35 yards away. it has had (give or take 100) 3750 pellets fired out of it, still good as ever!

...and i get a workout.

Tell me more about this air rifle. Wally world has one and I am looking
at it hard. Got some rodents around the house and my rifle of choice
makes the neighbors a little squeamish.

You don't really want a Gamo.  They are not worth what money you pay for them.  Gamo has about the worst name in the air gun industry for honoring their warrantees.  "Buyer Beware' should be Gamo's motto.  Lawdog

sounds like some of the reviews i read at midwayusa site.
but anywho, iwould like one with the velocity around 1000 fps,
i have been looking at the crossmans at wally world too and was wondering if they were any good.
and if i have to pay 300 or 400 for a gun it aint gonna be a pellet rifle.

First of all your NOT going to get 1,000 fps. from that model Gamo(the top of the line 1250 might do it).  More like 875 fps. or so.  Gamo uses a very light weight pellet to get that 1,000 fps. reading under perfect conditions in a lab.  You do understand that the faster the rifle shoots the heavier the pellet should be, thus lowering the velocity.  A Tech Force 99M in .177 caliber will get you a true 1,000+ fps.(actually closer to 1,100 fps.) but again you will be better off and the rifle will last longer if you use a heavier weight pellet.  Also it’s a bit lower in cost and more accurate with a better trigger.  Seeing that you want to rid pests from around your place go with a .22 caliber.  They hit harder.  Lawdog

A late friend of mine had a crosman .22 pellet rifle and we shot rats
at an old chicken house and they didnt get to far with it either.
So my biggest problem is to get a 22 or a 177.
Just how good are those Tech rifles I saw them at compasseco.com
not a bad price either. As far as velocity goes for me 850 to 1250
suits me just fine.

That 99M is the one I'm looking at... claimed 900fps with the 22 cal and 1100 with the 177.

Lawdog, thanks for the heads up about the sample packs from straight shooters.  They're just the ticket to find out what your rifle likes.

The following is a statement of fact from Shanghai Air Gun Factory, the makers of Tech Force air guns.

Quote
We are proud of declaring: The Industry Brand that Shanghai air Gun Factory produces became a great attraction in the seventh Asian Games, where Chinese athletes won team championship in shooting sport item and 1 gold. They broke the records of the Asian Games. For several years, more and more shooter teams have used the Industry Brand air guns including air rifles and air pistols. These teams captured excellent achievements in domestic and overseas games. So far these athletes have broken the world shooting records 3 times and won 19 golds in all in national games and Asian games as well as the international games…

Also their are the reports done by such noted shooter/writers as Tom Gaylord(works for Air Force Air Guns - Talon, Condor, etc.), Jim Chapman(writer for Predator Extreme Magazine) and Randy Mitchell9author of many articles on air gun hunting) just to name a few, that tell of the excellent quality, accuracy and power you get with Tech Force rifles from Compasseco, Inc.  Right now I believe they are the best value one can get for the dollar.  Lawdog
