I regret to say I haven't as much as picked up one since introduction :cry: . But I have read a good deal about them (plus I think under the topic "Everyone's Favorite Remington" another gentleman ownes a sweet and straight shooting 673...not in .350...but hey...what the heck). I've heard the only small disadvantage to the rifle (and I'm sure there were loopholes around it) was the fact that something to do w/ the barrel made you mount a scope in a different manner than normal. But all in all, I understand it's a fine gun and if your're looking to buy one I'd say go for it!

I have seen and handled a few, but have not shot one. It is a very nice looking rifle. The styling is a bit different, but I actually find it pleasing. I almost bought one a few months ago, but heard about the 35 Whelen CDLs at Grice. Had to order one. I have a real place in my heart for ther old Whelen cartridge. The 350 is pretty much a ballistic twin to the Whelen. In other words, a THUMPER.

I'd be interested in a comparison between this one and Marlins 45-70 guide gun, in terms of recoil, ballistics, effective range, etc.

ratherbefishin,.. I think that I'M the other "gentleman" that was being spoken about. As he stated MY 673 Guide rifle is not the .350 but the 300 SAUM round. I was considering the 350 but there were too many limitations when it came to reloading grain weight wise.

I do love the feel, weight, balance, and length of pull of this rifle,.. and the out of the box accuracy is fantastic.

There was one small agitation and that was with the iron sight on the rear. :?

When they designed this they incorporated the rear mounting screw of the sight as part of the vent ribbing and there isn't any separate "replacement-screw" that comes with the rifle to reattach the ribbing back down if you wish to put a scope on it. After looking the situation over it WAS possible to re-mount the rear sight on "Backwards" (so the V was the opposite way from where it should be) This allows for the clearance of the scope objective lens & allows the vent ribbing to be affixed tightly to the barrel.

Other than that one tiny flaw the rifle performs superbly!

I'm attaching the initial scope sight in target that I used to zero my scope. this picture is from 100 yards using factory Remington Core-Lokt ammo (165g.)

I've been thinking of buying a Model 673 in .308 Winchester. Does anybody have any experience with these? I'd like to know how they shoot or any other problems you may have experienced.

I'm thinking about getting either the model 673 in 350 Rem. mag. or a 35 Whelen of some kind. The Gander Mountain in my area has a 673 in 350 Rem. Mag. and 308 Win. Their both real nice. I don't know which would be better the 350 or the 35 Whelen.

FYI
If you didn't already know the 350 Rem has about 100fps advantage over the Whelen. Down side the 350 Rem has only one loading from Remington

I am going to purchase it the first week of March. I would get it now but since in the last month I have purchased more firearms than in the last 2 years. A H&R 45-70 Buffalo Classic, BDL 338 Rum, 375 Rum in LSS. But I am getting mine in 350 REM MAG. I plan to use it on a black bear hunt in Canada this June. I am going to use it with open sights as well. I will give you an update ASAP. Sorry I couldn't help you now.

Sounds like you just dieing to buy one.

I won a 350 at the NRA dinner in the guide gun. liked the gun but not the caliber( or the cal. was not anything I needed). traded for the 300saum in the same gun. bought a box of 150grcoreloktultras. this has to be the best all factory setup that I have found,short barrel and all. first two shots were hole for hole. the third was all but touching. have shot several hole for hole groups with this gun. thought about reloading, but getting any better will be very tough. Overall I love the gun, wel balenanced and great in a climbing tree stand. My advice, go for it.

I own the 673 in 350 rem mag, 308 and 243 and they all shoot unbelievablely good with factory ammo.

I wish Remington would offer the 673 in .358 Winchester. What the heck, they already chamber it for the .308 Winchester. The advantages of the .358 Winchester would be a greater magazine capacity than the .350 magnum and less recoil, also.
