Robert, I don't think there is a perfect "wild" turkey dinner other than frying the breast as I have mentioned, but the best turkey I've ever eaten was a domestic bird cooked in a Weber kettle BBQ over briquettes. I chose a 12lb hen, arranges the coals on each side of the bird with a drip pan under it below the grill. I had to add hot briquettes part way thru the cooking time, also put a couple pans of moist apple smoker chips on the coals during cooking, but it came out fantastic. Mmmmm num num....
Thanks for sharing your latest dinner experience, reminds me of my huntin partner's wife who did pretty much the same thing with a jake he shot a few years ago, it got overcooked in a cooking bag and they had family over for dinner as it turned out, Jack was trully disappointed since he hadn't eaten a jake yet and anticipated a culinary delight with the young bird.....tweren't to be!
