:eek: Bought a bottle of the stuff awhile back and used it this evening for the first time. Couldn't believe the amount of crap that came out of the barrel compared to using Hoppes #9. Anybody out there got any opinions on Butch's Bore Shine and is there anything available that will work even better?

I used it recently and agree, it works great. Another equivalent is Barnes X-10 (or something like that). But be careful with the Barnes cleaner - don't leave it in your barrel for more than 15 minutes at a time because this stuff is powerful!

Try JB Bore paste. It's like a very (super) fine jewler's rouge. It works great too. A lot of the match shooters here in PA use it.

Hoppes is great for powder fouling but BBS is made to get the copper out. It will do a great job at this but if you need a quicker, more aggresive cleaner then try CR-10 or Sweat's 7.62, they will work faster than Butche's but the directions MUST be followed to prevent damage to your firearm. Personaly I feel safer taking a little more time with BBS and saving the really strong stuff for heavy foulers. I have also heard than Wipe Out workes wonders but have yet to try it.

Try their oil as well. Great stuff for long term storage. Been using BBS for about 3-4 years and won't go back to Hoppes.

When you go to the range to shoot or sight your rifle in i've found a good mix to use every 15 shots or so. 1/2 BBS and 1/2 Kroil oil, and then a dry patch. Really does a good job.
