10ga Scope Mount?
« on: May 31, 2005, 04:46:55 PM »
I have an older 10 ga that I currently have fibre optic sights glued to but I would like to try a scope. Is there a way to mount a NEF factory base? I have an Ultra Slug barrel with scope as well and I really like the combination. On the NEF website under the FAQ they say you can't drill and tap the barrel.

Find a GOOD local gunsmith and ask him if it can be done.  I have drilled and tapped 12 guage barrels before and I think the 10 guage has thicker steel in the barrel.

heres the deal :D the newer barrels come drilled n tapped for weaver scope bases and are setup for a red dot.i had my smith drill n tapp two holes closer to the breach so a shotgun scope could be used.there is lots of eye releaf this way and you will need it shooting the big 10ga

I had a smith do the same to my 10 GA turkey gun. Only difference is he used a long one piece base blank and tapped for the back 2 mounting holes and put to new ones farther back near the chamber. Work great with a Nikon camo VSD dot sight.
