Calling "NYHunter"...
« on: May 02, 2005, 09:48:16 AM »
Well, you asked how it shot?  I finally got the rings and scope on, and while I was sighting it in at 50 yards, I shot a 3 shot group that made one ragged hole.  I can't believe someone actually sold away this gun!  I was shooting Remington's 200 grain corelokt ammo.  I am really excited, because my uncles invited me to hunt moose with them in Quebec this fall, and this gun fits the bill nicely.
Remington 7400 in .35 whelen with a Leupold vx III 1.5-5x illuminated reticle.

The kick wasn't too bad either...
Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition!

Raging480, I'm glad to heard it. I still can't believe I didn't buy it myself! :(
I hope I'm not raining on your parade, but I was under the impression that you weren't allowed to bring "semi-automatic" firearms into Canada. I may be wrong (and I hope I am), but do yourself a favor and find out before you try crossing the boarder into Canada. That won't be a pretty sight! :money:

Yes, that has been a concern of mine.  I do hope that it is groundless.

Well, after searching the internet, I found no restrictions for using a SEMI-automatic hunting rifle, with a 5 round magazine.  I will, ofcourse, seek for multiple confirmation.

The firearm regulations that plagued Canada several years ago, does not outlaw Remington 7400s.  As far as hunting regulations go, it has to be a .243 caliber or larger, so, obviously no problem there.
John Y. Cannuck, the moderator of the "Hunting in Canada" forum has also allayed our fears about this.  Lookin pretty good for moose...
