Eley Sport = Aguila Blue Box?
« on: April 26, 2005, 04:31:44 AM »
I've been trying to find out more about this Eley Sport ammo I got at the Conard Cup. I also found a flyer in PDF format that says that "Eley has contracted with a prominent supplier in Mexico to produce a price competitive product..." which immediately brought Aguila to my mind. The velocity that I see quoted various places is 1135fps, and Aguila Blue Box is supposedly that same velocity. The Eley Sport does have the E headstamp, though. Hmm...

Anyone know more about this stuff? Is it worthy practice ammo?

Jason

It was grest meeting you at the Conard Cup.  I hope you had a good time.  The first couple are always very exciting and they get your heart pounding.  But that is part of the game.  I hope you'll make it next year.

Since I will be looking for some inexpensive ammo for practice, I talked to Dave and he said thet for chickens or fifty foot reduced targets just about anything will do.  I think its the turkeys and rams that demand a little better performance.

Let me know how that ammo shoots.  I may have to try a couple of boxes.

Keep shooting.

For cheap, close range practice and, in my rifle, out to turkeys in club matches, it's impossible to beat Aguila Standard at $114 per case delivered from Cole distributing (that's $99 plus shipping.) Many rifles shoot this stuff very well.

Jason, take a closer look at the headstamp; that's not the same "E".  At the Sunshine Classic I heard shooters calling it Aguila.  Sarah
