Hog hunting info
« on: April 30, 2005, 09:49:37 AM »
Several people have asked about hunting locations in Texas for hogs.  My buddy told me about the places listed below.  I have not hunted either one of them, and have no information about the people other than what he told me.  These should be good locations, almost all the area along the Brazos river have good hog herds.  It will only cost you a phone call to get the facts.  These areas are North of Abilene.

This (he didn't give me a name) place is $50. a day, minimum two days.  Ph: (325) 236-5384.

Clearfork Outfitters.  They have meals and lodging.  Ph: (325) 677-7978 or (325) 721-8410.  This ranch, about 900 acres, is located in Haskell County.  They also have a web site.

As I said, I have not hunted these places, and do not give my stamp of approval altho my buddy said they were good.  Call and check it out for yourself, or perhaps, someone reading this has hunted there and can relate their experiences to us.

Been thinking seriously about hunting with Kurt at Clearfork for the Hogfest II next year as he has picked more acreage.

VTDW, have you hunted with him in the past?  I don't plan to hunt there, but some of the others on this forum may.  I know its a good location, my friend raises watermelons near that ranch, the pigs have been so bad there, a time or two, that he was calling everyone he knew and begging them to come up and kill a few, course the coyotes are just as bad for tearing up a watermelon patch.

I haven't hunted with Kurt but have talked with him and read lots of his posts on Texas Predator Posse.  I had intended to hold the Hogfest I at his ranch but decided against it because of his limited acreage at the time.  The folks at Texas Predator Posse use Kurt quite often for hog hunts and think a lot of his operation.  Here is a link that shows you what type of person he is and if you do a search on his handle you can find out much more information.

If you give Kurt a try be sure and let ME know how it goes.
