Is there a way to determine the date of manufacture of a SIG SAuer pistol? Seems I read somewhere that the letter prefix is a year code.

Under the muzzle on the frame there should be a two letter code. A is 0, B is 1, C is 2, etc.  No I's so skip those.  So a gun with code of AA was made in 2000, AB in 2001 and so forth...
