.223- 1" groups or smaller common with factory loads.  Handloads can do better.  Mine is a little tight and likes less than Max loads.  Would love to get my hands on a 22-250 (and .358 and...).

spispeza I have had no direct firsthand experience with these rounds in a BLR but I can remember reading a review about the 22/250 in a BLR when it was inrtoduced.
The writer was a bit doubtful as to why a lever gun was chambered to a varmit round. On testing he was very very convinced that it did indeed deliver peak accuracy though not a bolt rifle.
Personally if I had the oppurtunity to pick either one up as a Blacktail rifle I would jump at at trusting full well that accuracy would be quite sufficient. POW

223 BLR Accuracy

I have a BLR in 223 that I prefer to shoot over my Remington 700
BDL Varmiter in 223.

I have recorded eleven 3 shot groups at 100 yards with the BLR using 26.2 grains of Winchester 748 powder and a plain base 55 grain Hornady bullet.  The ammo used in the groups was loaded in 1983 (by me) and stored in sheds and garages in military ammo cans.  I fired the groups in 2001.

Seven groups range from .37" to .93"

The balance run from 1.062 to 1.5" in size center to center.

I fired one group with the same powder, but used the bulk military full metal jacketed bullet by Winchester.  The bullets are not even close to match grade and the groups was 2.5".

I play at the Rifle Silhouette range 2 days a week.  I use my BLR 223 to shoot at the Turkeys at 421 yards.  On a calm day, I can head shoot the turkeys.  That is no bull.
