204 gets bloody
« on: December 08, 2007, 12:29:54 PM »
Well I got out this morning for some calling.  Went with a buddy of mine that is new to the sport and made a few stands.  We had no takers and he had some other stuff to get done so we called it a day around 9:30.  On the way back home I decided to stop at one of my hunting places just outside of town and make one more stand.  Get set up and start whailing on the yella-fella after about 10-12 minutes this big fella showed himself at about 130 yards and hung up.  Rested the crosshairs on my 204 Encore and squeezed one off.  He was DRT.  Very large male that tipped the scales at 43lbs.

What bullet were you using? I know the Sierra bullets are to thin skinned for coyote and have heard that the 35 gn. Berger's were a good choice for coyotes but gave up on the .204 before trying the Berger's.

Using Hornady factory loads with 40 grain Vmax.
