What do you hunt in the off season?

Myself, I pretty much become a paper puncher. Urban sprawl has claimed much of the land I used to hunt. Come fall, I may get some birds, but as for summer, it's paper, or fishes for me.

I hunt steel! My first silhouette match of the year was last weekend.

Switching off to a camera during the off season is a great way to stay sharp and learn loads about your animals.

I shoot a lot of targets. Not as fun as hunting but fun all the same.  :D

By the word " summer" I will confine it from late June until the fourth week in August.

During this time, there is hardly anything to hunt in southern New England. As a teen, there were plenty of opportunities to hunt woodchucks. Not any more.

On occasions I have gone out to the Western part of the US with my Contender for various varmints like rockchucks, prairie dogs, and gophers. It is a ton of fun and not too pricey.

With the price of gas and some home projects, I am usure if I will be going out west.

So, outside of a trip cross country to shoot varmints, it is pretty much paper all the way.
