308 w/heavy barrel?
« on: May 12, 2005, 10:38:30 AM »
I thought NEF/H&R made a 308 with a heavy barrel. Does anyone know if this is true or not? I cant find it online. I only found the barrel by itself. But not the whole gun. I would prefer to just buy a whole other gun.

barrel only *308 Win., 22" Bull 93.00

thanks

The only way to buy a whole gun and get the 22" Bull Barrel...is to buy a Survivor 308...

They list the Ultra Rifle in .308 as model # SB2-808.
Part # 808 is listed as a, "308 Win., 22" Bull."

I have one, and while it's not a light barrel, it's not what I'd consider a bull barrel either.

If they make a true bull barrel (untapered) I can't find it on their web site.

I have a survivor in .308, and it comes with a bull barrel.  I love it.  Nice little rifle. I bought it for my daughters.  It is nice and short, and they can handel it much easier than a rifle with a bolt action.  At 50 yards they we grouping three rounds touching each other with a 3-9 x 40mm Scope.  I am seriously considering buying another one so both of my daughters have one.
I was debating about buying one of these, and having a 6.5 Jap I have converted to a bent bolt, and have it drilled for scope ring mounts.  It was going to cost me $165.  The 6.5 Jap is a wonderful round, but the Survivor is so compact it is easier for them to hold steady.  I handload, so I just use a youth load and the .308 recoil is about the same as the 6.5, and the brand new rifle is only $204 with tax.  What a deal! 8)

well their bull barrel isn't quite straight but it sure is big.  and while it may not be straight it sure does do a good job (see the second postal match)
curiosity killed the cat , but i was lead suspect for a while
