TC Duo-Ring Scope mount

How is the TC Duo-Ring mount affixed to the barrel ?
Apparently no "drilling or tapping" is required.

It is a one piece mount/ring assembly that uses the same holes (all TC mounts do) that the rear sight would use if installed. It is a four screw set up some custom jobs use those four hole and add two.
Personally I have this opinion of TC Duo mounts after having two.
1. The rings are so close together they allow for no fore / aft adjustment of the scope.
2. The surface area or contact of the rings to the scope is half what a standard set of Redfield/Leupold rings...less contact less grip.
3. They are fixed in position.....thats great if they are perfect aligned with each other...if they are not...STBY.
4. They are way over priced considering all of the above.

Others may have great luck with them and they are pretty easy to assemble. I did have a set on a 7-30 Waters 14" that worked just fine but I could never get the scope positioned where I wanted it on the gun.

#5 They are heavy
I have two and while they work fine I had to lap them for good scope contact. One is on my 454 and the other is on a 708 and both have held tight but on heavy kickers they can be a bit heavy an that put's extra strain on the mounting screws.

I agree with skb2706, In my opinion they are the most poorly designed crap I ever messed with. No way to fine tune your set up at all.  KN

I agree with them being crap, I have 3 sets of this junk and have never had them installed where they would work correctly. Always wind up taking them off and replacing them. Most all of them designed for the TCR83 and TCR 87 will not allow alignment of any scope, all I have seen are either drilled incorrectly or allow movement with every shot and do not return to zero.
