223AI Dies
« on: May 10, 2005, 05:59:07 PM »
Anyone here know if i can use a regular 223 seat die for seating in the 223AI? I am looking for a set of 223AI dies if anyone wants to part with them at a reasonable price.

Thanks, Tad  :D

I think you could use the std seating die. Midway has Lee and Redding AI dies and the Lee of course being the most inexpensive. I opted for the reddings as I like their dies. Just working on a bbl so haven't done any actual loading yet.

You can also use the Lee .223 collet die to neck size if you have one already. For a seater you'll need the right die or make one Wilson style with the same reamer you cut the chamber with. If you want a set of screw in dies, the Lee are by far the best deal at about $21 from Midway.

You need a set of 223AI as you blow the case out so case won't fit the 223 die.  I've got a set of Wilson,Jones and Redding for my 223AI's.  Great round.
