STRONG FRAME AND CYLINDER
« on: May 09, 2005, 01:23:12 AM »
This is refering to my again 2 inch fixed barel, SS, Palmer mass revolver 38...thanks rolltide for the reply but ...is this revolver made any different from a 357 magnum DW  ?? I meant the cylinder is just rimmed out to accept 38 special right ??...i have to admit the frame and bulk of the size is bigger than most k frame smiths, even ruger...

a friend suggested that i use 38+p+ on it and it wont even harm the revolver....is this possible ??

It is possible if the frame and the cylinder are identical to the 357, but I can't say for sure if that is so.  Your best bet is to contact the factory for confirmation before you fire the hot loads.

Is it a fixed-barrel revolver? Look at the muzzle and see if it looks like there is a recessed nut with slots for a spanner wrench. See if a .357mag cartridge will drop into the cylinder (but don't shoot it!). Let us know what you find and we'll go from there...

Here's a link to a thread that has a pretty good description of the .357 models: http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=61186

yup...no barrel nut or whatsover...its a fixed barrel allright....tried a 357 cartridge...it fits but needs a clearance of approx 1/16 of an inch to sit properly on the cylinder....anyway...i was hust wondering if this cylinder was design for a 357 magnum but rimmed out only to accept 38 shells.....i know its illegal to rim out the cylinder to accept 357 shells...but i am just curious if DW made two seperate types of cylinder...one for 38 and one for 357...
