Taurus Tracker model 970

Anyone have this gun? How does it shoot? Do you like it or would you rather have something else? And how much did you pay for yours?

I have had a 970 for about a year.  It came from Gander mountain, talked them down to $300.00 new. (it had a scratch on barrel that buffed out).

This gun does not get much use since I bought the Ruger mark II.

The Taurus is not as accurate as the ruger.  The taurus has a place...It will shoot shorts and will always fire.  A wheel gun is always more appealing to me but if squirl hunting the ruger gets the job.  

The taurus also comes in a 22 magnum that (I believe)  will shoot magnum as well as 22LR, shorts etc.  This might me a good choice.

The Versitility of the Taurus tracker is its appeal to me (as well as price).  

I see a lot of used Trackers in my area.

>PLEASE  22LR, L or Shorts should NOT be shot out of a .22 mag cyl. It's a safety issue as the chamber on the .22 mag is larger and will not properly support the narrower .22lr,l, s cases. Shrapnel could ( but not always) result. Hot .22lr's  especaillly could casue you to get hurt good.  In any case, accuracy would be dirt poor anyway due to pressure loss/ variations. It's the reason that "convertable guns" like the Ruger Single six come with two cyl.

Rule of thumb, NEVER chamber anything in anything unless the owners manual spcificly states that it's OK.
