What are the advantages of a class 3 shotgun fo self-defense
« on: March 11, 2004, 12:05:38 AM »
There is a guy here in Georgia who manufactures 10 and 12" pistol grip Mossbergs and I really like the compactness and size of them. I guess I am trying to justify the expense of one as opposed to a standard 18" for self defense. I would also probalby like to have it when I go camping occasionally and during deer season when I handgun hunt. Am I crazy? Is it worth the extra expense? What are your thoughts on shory shotguns and while I am at it what is a good length? I also was told buy the shotgun manufacturer that he has used Aguila mini-shells with no problems. This also appeals to me. Thoughts?

I believe BATF rules require prior approval for moving a class III weapon across state lines.  In some states class III weapons are not legal to hunt with or have in your possession while hunting.  Therefore, I think you need to reconsider your options.  They are fun to play with though.
