Thanks to all who have contributed to this site in the last four years.
I read all 24 pages of text and learned more about how to get a round ball black powder rifle to shoot well than I could have learned anywhere else.
I now have my .54 cal Cabalas Hawkin shooting consistant one inch groups at 30 yards. (The distance to the river bank in my back yard.) 76 grains of FFF Goex, .018 Oxbow patch, .530 Hornady RB, wipe one stroke with moose milk between shots followed by a dry patch. Success!!!!!!!!
I tried many many other suggestions that helped the groups get smaller until I finally arrived at the above. I truely appreciate all the advice you have given one another and on which I went to school.
One inch groups at 30 yards should translate to about three inch groups at 100, which is as good as I can shoot with iron sights.
Thanks again,
williek
