In Praise of Thompson Center's Customer Service
« on: May 12, 2005, 03:43:29 AM »
I just want to take a moment to say that I have a New Englander muzzleloader in .54 caliber.  Took two deer with it last season.  Outstandingly accurate rifle.  Anyway, it had a synthetic stock (which I never really liked).  Upon getting back to the house with the deer on the four wheeler, the rifle had been slung around my neck and shoulder.  When I returned, the bottom of the stock was missing and the only thing showing was this hollow synthetic stock and some glue where the bottom used to be.  This rifle has always been an outstanding performer for me and I was amazed to see the stock so.

I wrote T/C and sent the stock back.  I asked them to please tell me how much I'd have to pay to upgrade to a wooden stock.  I didn't hear from them for about a week.  Today, I received this beautiful wood stock, appears to be walnut, via UPS and NO BILL.  They did this for free.  What a company!!! :agree:

Anyway, it would be great if other companies would take T/C's lead in customer service!!

Yep, T/C is great!! I  own many of them. I just wish they still made some of the more traditional muzzleloaders agin like the New Engalnder(shotgun), Big Board, double trigger Renegade, etc. They are really leaning to the modern side now, that is good, but l wish they wouldn`t forget their roots so much. I should have bought the models wehn they were still around :) Glad to hear such good customer service. Jack.

Couldn't agree more...also, you might be surprised to find some of those models (or barrels or stocks) may still be available through TC's Fox Ridge store...1-800-243-4570

The New Englander was attractive to me when I bought it many years ago because you could buy a 12 ga shotgun barrel to go with it (which I did!!).  This rifle is very accurate using my own cast T/C type maxi balls.

I really don't care for the newer BP guns.  Why hunt with a primitive weapon that is not primitive.  I even got rid of compound bows years ago and went back to a recurve.

T/C - great company, though.

Roundball, yes Fox Ridge still makes the single trigger Renegade, not my thing, and many replacement barrels. By the way, my new 31 inch Hawken Flintlock barrel in 1:66 twist and non-QLA 31 inches long just came in from FRO and it is sweet!! I can`t wait to shoot thru it, I am so happy it doesn`t have the QLA for patched roundballs. I did notice it is a little heavier and a little nose heavier, but my hand position fixed that. Jack.

P.S-I want a T/C New Englander Shotgun so bad!! I should ask them if they can make me one. I could have gotten a NOS one for $295 about a year ago, what was I thinking :) Jack.

Well, before T/C was good enough to me to exchange my broken synthetic stock for a beautiful wooden one, I would have sold my New Englander .54 with the 12 ga extra barrel.  It's just too dang pretty to sell now. :-D  :D

I'll sure chime in on the great customer service from TC. Not only on the ML line of products but on all other products as well.
