have several 870s in the mag and super mag. All the paperwork says not to shoot 31/2'' shells except in the super mag recievers. My question is are the barrels interchangeable.  Have a 20inch barrel that came off a mag. 3'gun. can this barrel (Iknow it will fit) be put on a 31/2' super mag reciever and work.

Barrels are interchangable (I think). But if you have a 3" receiver you can change the barrel that came off of a 3 1/2", but you can't put 3 1/2" shells into it because the receiver can't handle it. Ya get where that's goin? Good luck!  :D
