Redhawk Police Marksman Special Edition
« on: May 17, 2005, 01:41:58 PM »
I just placed a 44Mag. Redhawk SS marked Police Marksman Special Edition on layaway.  It is like new and still has the yellow cylinder cover in it.  Can anyone tell me about the year it was made and how much it would or should resell for?  The action in incredibly smooth and the trigger let off is nothing but beautiful.  It comes with Pachmyer grips.
Thanks for your help.

Help me out here, I know that these were sold as a set of two, a 357 and a 44 but that is about it.  I also know that there were 1,000 sets made.
Why do you say what you did?

I am going to pay $500 for the gun which according to the "blue book" is right on the money with out the special edition status.  Of course I plan to shoot it so there goes that.
Any way, I was talking about the action.  Years ago I had the opportunity to shoot a Colt Python.  If you have shot one you know how smooth an action can be.  This big Ruger 44 Mag is that nice believe it or not.  When I handled the gun and dry fired it, I was in love.
It feels great with the large Pachmyer grips as well.  It comes up and on target fast and right on, almost shot gun like.
Another 11 days and it will be MINE!

What is the barrel length?  I was leaning towards the Pachmyr grips for my .44 Mag Redhawk (I have Pachmyr grips on a .357 that I really like) but could not find any local shops that carried them.  I even called Pachmyr to no avail.

I believe the barrel is 7.5.  As far as the grips, I think that these are the ones designed to abosorb recoil and are large and very hand filling.
While I am tall, I don't  have very large hands but after getting the feel of the gun with the Pachmyer grips, which by the way are almost soft, I really like them.  I will let you know how it shoots with them.
