Leupold Scope Base on Freedom Arms .454
« on: March 01, 2003, 07:44:21 AM »
Anyone using a Leupold scope base on a Freedom Arms Model 83 in .454?
How do you like it?
How many screws to attach base to gun?
How are the rings attached (any special Leo rings required)? Where is the least expensive place to get one?
Anyone have one for sale?
Thanks - J.Solo

Yes
Very much
Two I believe
The rings are dual dovetail mediums. Try Midsouth Shooters Supply.
Mine isn't.

MS Hitman:

I checked out Mid South and the one they have listed is about $15.00  Is this the same base that Freedom Arms is selling direct for $60.00?

Yes it's the same.  However, I think that the ones from FA already have the rings also.  $15 sounds like only the base.  There are actually 3 screws that attach it to the gun.  Come on now Hitman, I thought for sure that you would remember drilling on my Ruger for 30 minutes.

Yeah, that's right.  You do owe me several drill bits.

You will need to buy the dual dovetail rings and that will get the cost on up some more also.
